Boudica was queen of the British Iceni tribe, a Celtic tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. She inherited Iceni, an ally of the Roman Empire. However, to the Romans, women were slaves. Under Roman law, women could not own land or rule.?
